Construction of Parken Stadium

9 September 1992

Parken Stadium is the national football stadium of Denmark, in the Osterbro district of Copenhagen, and the home ground of the club FC Copenhagen. It was built on the site of the old Idraetsparken, which had been used since 1911, and it opened in 1992 as a modern ground with a retractable roof. As well as football it has been used for concerts and other events. At the delayed European Championship, in a match between Denmark and Finland, the Danish player Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch because of cardiac arrest and was saved by quick medical care, an event watched around the world. Eriksen recovered and later returned to international football.
