QAnon is an American far-right conspiracy theory and political movement that began in late 2017 with anonymous posts on an internet message board by someone calling themselves Q, who claimed to have access to classified information. The posts alleged that President Donald Trump was secretly fighting a global cabal of Satan-worshipping elites involved in child trafficking, and predicted an imminent day of reckoning. None of these claims has been supported by evidence. The movement spread through social media, and its supporters appeared at political rallies and took part in some real-world crimes, including the storming of the US Capitol in January 2021. The FBI has identified it as a potential domestic terrorism threat.
