Introduction of Binance

2017

Binance is a cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2017 by Changpeng Zhao, a Canadian-Chinese entrepreneur. It raised funds through an initial coin offering of its own token, now called BNB, and quickly grew into the world's largest exchange by trading volume, offering spot trading, derivatives and other services. The company moved its base several times and has had no single clear headquarters, which attracted attention from regulators in many countries. In 2023 Binance reached a settlement with United States authorities over compliance failures, and Zhao stepped down as chief executive. The exchange has remained a major platform in the crypto market.
