Rostov Arena is a football stadium on the left bank of the Don River in Rostov-on-Don, in southern Russia, built for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The design, by the British firm Populous, echoes the flow of the river, and the stadium has a capacity of around forty-five thousand. It was completed at the end of 2017 and became the home ground of FC Rostov after the tournament. Five matches of the World Cup were played there, among them the round of sixteen match in which Belgium beat Japan after trailing by two goals. The stadium is part of a district created on previously unused land, with new roads and bridges.
