Premiere of House M.D.

from 16 November 2004 to 21 May 2012

House, also known as House M.D., was an American medical drama broadcast on the Fox network. It was created by David Shore and starred the British actor Hugh Laurie as Dr Gregory House, a brilliant but abrasive and pain-ridden diagnostician who heads a department at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. Each episode typically centres on a difficult medical case that House and his team of doctors, with his friend Dr James Wilson, work to solve through unconventional methods. The character was partly modelled on Sherlock Holmes, and the show contains deliberate references to that source, including his address at 221B. It ran for eight seasons and won several Emmy and Golden Globe awards, and Laurie was nominated for his performance many times.
