Cassini-Huygens was a joint mission of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency to explore Saturn, launched on 15 October 1997 from Cape Canaveral on a Titan IV rocket. The craft consisted of the Cassini orbiter and the Huygens probe, which was built by the European Space Agency. After using gravity assists from Venus, Earth and Jupiter, it entered orbit around Saturn in July 2004. In January 2005 Huygens landed on Titan, the planet's largest moon, the first landing on a body in the outer solar system. Cassini found geysers on Enceladus, lakes of methane on Titan and detailed structure in the rings. The mission ended in September 2017, when the orbiter was deliberately plunged into Saturn's atmosphere.
