The 2025 Cambodia–Thailand border conflict was a series of armed clashes along the disputed border between the two Southeast Asian countries, where several areas, including ancient temples, have long been claimed by both sides. Tensions rose after a Cambodian soldier was killed in a skirmish, leading to troop buildups, border closures and a diplomatic crisis, and in the summer the fighting escalated into artillery exchanges and air strikes, with civilians evacuated on both sides and deaths on each side. A ceasefire was arranged with the mediation of Malaysia and encouragement from the United States and China. The crisis had major political effects in Thailand, where it weakened the government.
