Solar eclipse of June 21, 2020

21 June 2020

The solar eclipse of 21 June 2020 was an annular eclipse, in which the Moon covers the centre of the Sun but leaves a bright ring around its edge. It fell on the northern summer solstice, and its path of annularity crossed central Africa, southern Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Pakistan, northern India, Tibet and southern China, and Taiwan, ending in the Pacific. Observers in India saw the ring in places such as Dehradun and Kurukshetra, with a partial eclipse elsewhere across Asia and Africa. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, many people watched it from home or through online broadcasts.
