Release of Microsoft Edge

29 July 2015

Microsoft Edge is a web browser developed by Microsoft. It was introduced as the default browser of Windows 10 to replace Internet Explorer, and its first version used Microsoft's own engine, EdgeHTML. In 2020 Microsoft released a new version of Edge built on Chromium, the open-source engine that also underlies Google Chrome, which replaced the older version, and it became available on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Its features include collections, vertical tabs, an AI assistant sidebar and an Internet Explorer mode for older websites, and Internet Explorer 11 was retired in 2022. Edge has become the second most widely used desktop browser after Chrome.
