Creation of Windows 10

29 July 2015

Windows 10 is a personal computer operating system released by Microsoft as the successor to Windows 8, whose tile-based interface had been unpopular with many desktop users. It brought back the Start menu, added the Edge browser, the Cortana assistant and virtual desktops, and was offered as a free upgrade to users of Windows 7 and 8.1 during its first year. Microsoft described it as a service, with regular feature updates, instead of a new version every few years. It became the most widely used version of Windows for many years, and Microsoft ended support for it in October 2025.
