Adventure Time is an American animated series created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network, which premiered in April 2010. It follows a boy named Finn and his shape-shifting dog Jake as they explore the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, meeting characters such as Princess Bubblegum, the Ice King and Marceline the Vampire Queen. The series started as a lighthearted comedy, but over time it developed a serialized plot and a darker, more emotional depth. It was praised for its imaginative visuals, its music and its treatment of friendship and loss, and it won multiple Emmy awards. After ten seasons it ended in 2018, and it was followed by spin-offs such as Adventure Time: Distant Lands and Fionna and Cake.
