The title Exodus refers most famously to the second book of the Bible, which tells the story of the Israelites' departure from slavery in Egypt under Moses, the giving of the law at Mount Sinai and the building of the tabernacle. That book is ancient and was composed over a long period, so the date shown does not mark its writing. The year 1958 matches the publication of Exodus, a novel by the American writer Leon Uris about the founding of the state of Israel.
