Launch of Box Office Mojo

1999

Box Office Mojo is a website that tracks box-office revenues for films, reporting daily, weekend and yearly grosses in the United States and in other countries. It was founded by Brandon Gray, who built it into the standard source for the film industry and for film fans interested in how movies perform commercially. The site published charts, rankings of the highest-grossing films, and analysis. It was acquired by the Internet Movie Database, which is owned by Amazon, in 2008, and remained a part of that company, with its data integrated into IMDbPro. Journalists and analysts regularly cite its figures.
