Founding of Maritime, Fluvial and Harbor Museum of Rouen

1999

The Maritime, Fluvial and Harbor Museum of Rouen is a museum in the Norman city of Rouen, in northern France, devoted to the history of the port and of navigation on the River Seine. It is located on the quays of the river, in an area linked to the city's maritime trade. Its collections and displays deal with ships, harbour life, river transport and the people who worked on the water. Rouen is one of France's major river ports, and its history is closely tied to the Seine and to trade with the sea at Le Havre.
