Wayne Rooney was born on 24 October 1985 in Liverpool. An English footballer and manager, Rooney burst onto the scene as a teenager at Everton and joined Manchester United in 2004, where he won five Premier League titles and the Champions League. He is Manchester United's all-time leading goalscorer and was England's record scorer until Harry Kane overtook him. A forceful, versatile forward who could also play in midfield, he captained both club and country. Later in his career he played for Everton again and for D.C. United in the United States, and then moved into management, with Derby County, D.C. United, Birmingham City and Plymouth Argyle.
