2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference

from 31 October 2021 to 13 November 2021

The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP26, was the 26th annual meeting of the countries that are parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. It was held at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow, and was attended by world leaders, negotiators, scientists and activists. It produced the Glasgow Climate Pact, in which countries agreed to speed up their emission cuts, to work towards phasing down unabated coal power and to end subsidies for fossil fuels. In the final hours, India and China had the wording on coal changed from phase out to phase down. The conference also completed the rulebook for the Paris Agreement, including rules for carbon markets, and produced pledges on methane and deforestation.
