Creation of Windows 11

5 October 2021

Windows 11 is a version of Microsoft's Windows operating system, released on 5 October 2021 as the successor to Windows 10. It brought a redesigned interface with rounded corners, a centered taskbar and Start menu, and snap layouts for arranging windows, and it added support for running Android apps for a period. Its stricter hardware requirements, including a security chip called TPM 2.0 and a recent processor, meant that many older computers could not officially upgrade. Microsoft integrated Teams chat, widgets and, in later updates, AI assistant features. Support for Windows 10 ended in October 2025, which pushed many users toward upgrading.
