Release of WALL-E

21 June 2008

WALL-E is a computer-animated science fiction film by Pixar, directed by Andrew Stanton. It is set in the distant future, where Earth has been abandoned because of pollution and rubbish, and a lone waste-collecting robot named WALL-E carries on compacting trash. His life changes when a sleek probe robot called EVE arrives, and he follows her into space to a giant ship, the Axiom, where humans have become passive and dependent on machines. The first part of the film has almost no dialogue, relying on visuals and sound design, and the music includes songs from the musical Hello, Dolly! The film was a critical and commercial success and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
