The Georgian Wikipedia is the edition of the free online encyclopedia in the Georgian language, which is spoken in Georgia and belongs to the Kartvelian family, unrelated to the Indo-European languages around it. Georgian has its own unique script, with a literary tradition going back to the early Christian centuries. The edition was launched in the early 2000s and grew through the contributions of volunteers within the country and in the diaspora. It covers topics from Georgian history, culture, geography and nature, as well as global topics, and is a significant resource for a language with a relatively small number of speakers.
