My Belarusy is the national anthem of Belarus. Its music was composed by Niescier Sakalouski, and its words were written by Mikhas Klimkovich and Uladzimir Karyzna. It was first adopted as the anthem of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, and after the collapse of the Soviet Union it was kept, in a version with the Soviet references removed, following a national debate about national symbols. The lyrics were revised again in 2002. The anthem speaks of the Belarusian people as friendly and peaceful, and of their homeland and its past. It is a solemn, march-like piece that is played at official ceremonies and sporting events.
