Arrow is an American superhero series broadcast on The CW, based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow. It follows Oliver Queen, played by Stephen Amell, a billionaire playboy who is stranded for years on a hostile island and returns home to Starling City as a hooded vigilante fighting corruption with a bow. The show's first season took a dark and realistic tone, similar to the Batman films of Christopher Nolan. Over time it added more fantastical elements, supporting heroes and flashbacks to Oliver's time away. It launched the Arrowverse, a shared universe that grew to include The Flash and other series, and it ran for eight seasons.
