1997

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime was created by merging the United Nations Drug Control Programme and the Centre for International Crime Prevention, and it is headquartered in Vienna. It helps member states to counter illicit drugs, organized crime, corruption and terrorism through research, technical assistance and support in drafting laws. It publishes the annual World Drug Report. It serves as the guardian of the international drug control conventions and of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and the Convention against Corruption. It operates a network of field offices around the world and is funded mainly by voluntary contributions from governments.
