Founding of Borussia Mönchengladbach

1900

Borussia Monchengladbach is a German football club from the city of Monchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia, known as the Foals for the style of its young attacking teams in the 1970s. The club's golden age came in the late 1960s and 1970s under coaches Hennes Weisweiler and Udo Lattek, when it won five Bundesliga titles, with players such as Günter Netzer, Berti Vogts, Jupp Heynckes and Allan Simonsen. It also won the UEFA Cup in 1975 and 1979, and reached the final of the European Cup in 1977, losing to Liverpool. In recent years it has been a regular qualifier for European competitions, and it plays at Borussia-Park, which opened in 2004.
