Founding of Blackburn Rovers F.C.

1875

Blackburn Rovers is an English football club from the Lancashire town of Blackburn, and one of the founders of the Football League. In the late nineteenth century it was among the strongest teams in England, winning the FA Cup three years running in the 1880s, and several more times by the 1920s. The club had a spell of glory in the 1990s, when the local steel magnate Jack Walker financed a team that signed stars such as Alan Shearer, and won the Premier League under Kenny Dalglish in the 1994–95 season. After relegation in 1999 and the death of Walker, the club declined, and since 2010 it has been owned by the Indian company Venky's. It plays at Ewood Park.
