Founding of Atalanta BC

17 October 1907

Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio is an Italian football club from Bergamo, in Lombardy, founded by a group of students and local sports enthusiasts, some of them from Switzerland. For most of its history, it was a mid-table side known for developing young players, and it won only one major trophy, the Coppa Italia in 1963. Under the manager Gian Piero Gasperini, who arrived in 2016, it became a regular Champions League team and played a fast, attacking style. In 2024, it beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final in Dublin to win the UEFA Europa League, with Ademola Lookman scoring all three goals. The club plays at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo and has a strong youth academy.
