Founding of AS Roma

7 June 1927

Associazione Sportiva Roma was created through a merger of three Roman clubs, Roman FC, Alba-Audace and Fortitudo-Pro Roma, arranged by the fascist official Italo Foschi, who wanted a strong club in the capital to challenge the dominance of northern teams. Its colours are the yellow and red of the city, and the symbol is the she-wolf that suckled Romulus and Remus. The club won the Serie A title for the first time in 1942, with further titles in 1983 and 2001, and has won the Coppa Italia several times. In 2022 it won the first UEFA Europa Conference League. Roma play at the Stadio Olimpico, which they share with Lazio, their city rivals.
