Samara Arena, also called the Cosmos Arena, is a football stadium in Samara, a Russian city on the Volga that was a centre of the Soviet space and aviation industries. The glass dome over the stadium and its overall design were inspired by the theme of space flight, in reference to the city's association with rocketry. It was built for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which saw it host a number of matches, including a quarter-final between Sweden and England. After the tournament it became the home ground of the local club Krylia Sovetov Samara. The stadium is on the Volga embankment area and adjoins a sports complex.
