Steve Jobs was born on 24 February 1955 in San Francisco. An American entrepreneur and inventor, Jobs co-founded Apple in 1976 with Steve Wozniak and helped launch the personal computer industry with the Apple II and, in 1984, the Macintosh. He was pushed out of the company in 1985, then founded NeXT and led the animation studio Pixar to the success of Toy Story. Apple bought NeXT in 1997, and Jobs returned to lead it to a remarkable recovery with the iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad, which combined design and technology. He died of pancreatic cancer in 2011.
