Gianluigi Buffon was born on 28 January 1978 in Carrara. An Italian goalkeeper, Buffon is regarded as one of the greatest of all time. He spent most of his career at Juventus, after beginning at Parma, and won ten Serie A titles with the Turin club. He was part of the Italy team that won the 2006 World Cup, conceding just two goals during the tournament, and he played in five World Cups. He played professionally into his mid-forties, holds the record for appearances for Italy, and also spent a season with Paris Saint-Germain.
