The Azerbaijani Wikipedia is the edition of the free online encyclopedia written in the Azerbaijani language, which is spoken mainly in Azerbaijan and in northwestern Iran. It was started in the early 2000s, in the first years of Wikipedia's expansion into languages other than English. The edition is written by volunteers, and, like other editions, it is run by the Wikimedia Foundation and editorial communities.
