Premiere of The Flintstones

from 30 September 1960 to 1 April 1966

The Flintstones is an American animated sitcom produced by Hanna-Barbera, set in a comic version of the Stone Age in the town of Bedrock. It follows the families of Fred Flintstone and his neighbour Barney Rubble, with their wives Wilma and Betty, and it borrowed much of its structure and humour from the live-action sitcom The Honeymooners. Dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals serve as household appliances, and the cartoon mixes modern gadgets with stone and wood. It was the first animated series to air in prime time on American television. The show ran for six seasons and inspired spin-offs, films and a long-lasting franchise of merchandise.
