The Crown is a British-American historical drama created by Peter Morgan for Netflix, which tells the story of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family. It begins in the late 1940s with her marriage and accession to the throne and moves on through political crises, family tensions and public events up to the early twenty-first century. The cast was renewed every two seasons, with Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton as the Queen. It won many awards, including Emmys and Golden Globes, and was praised for its production values. It was also criticised for presenting invented scenes and conversations as if they were fact, and it ran for six seasons.
