Premiere of Sherlock

from 25 July 2010 to 15 January 2017

Sherlock is a British crime drama series created by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat that moves Arthur Conan Doyle's stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes to modern London. The BBC began broadcasting it in July 2010, with Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson, and Andrew Scott played his enemy Moriarty. Each season consisted of only three feature-length episodes, which gave the series a cinematic scale, and the plots updated Conan Doyle's cases with mobile phones, blogs and text messages displayed on screen. It won multiple Emmy and BAFTA awards and brought the classic detective to a new generation of viewers. The fourth season, in early 2017, was its last.
