Premiere of Family Guy

from 31 January 1999 to 14 February 2002

Family Guy is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox network, which first aired on 31 January 1999 after the Super Bowl. It follows the Griffin family of Quahog, Rhode Island, including the bumbling father Peter, his wife Lois, and their children Meg, Chris and Stewie, and a talking dog named Brian. The humor relies on cutaway gags, pop-culture references and satire. Fox canceled the show in 2002 after poor ratings and schedule changes, but strong DVD sales and high ratings for reruns on Adult Swim led to its revival in 2005. It has since become one of the longest-running animated series on American television.
