Premiere of ER

from 19 September 1994 to 2 April 2009

ER is an American medical drama created by the author Michael Crichton and set in the emergency department of a fictional Chicago hospital, County General. Its fast pace, handheld camera work and realistic medical detail set it apart from earlier hospital dramas. The first cast included Anthony Edwards, George Clooney, Julianna Margulies, Noah Wyle and Eriq La Salle, and the series made Clooney a film star. It was broadcast on NBC and was among the most-watched programmes in the United States for many years. ER won many awards, including several Emmys, and ran for fifteen seasons, becoming one of the longest-running prime-time dramas on American television.
