June 2017 London attack

3 June 2017

The June 2017 London attack was a terrorist attack in central London in which three men drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge and then went on to Borough Market, where they stabbed people in the surrounding restaurants and bars. Eight people were killed and dozens injured. Armed police shot the three attackers dead within about eight minutes of the first emergency call. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility. It was the third terrorist attack in Britain in three months, following those at Westminster and Manchester, and it led to reviews of counter-terrorism and of the security of public places, including the use of barriers on London's bridges.
