The Manchester Arena bombing was a suicide attack at the end of a concert by the American singer Ariana Grande at the Manchester Arena in northern England. A man detonated a homemade bomb in the foyer as concertgoers, many of them children and teenagers, were leaving, killing twenty-two people and injuring many more. The attacker, a British man of Libyan descent, had links to the Islamic State, and his brother was later convicted for his part in the plot. A public inquiry examined the emergency response and security at the venue, and it found missed opportunities to prevent the attack. The victims are remembered in a memorial in the city's Cathedral Gardens.
