Fenerbahçe is the football section of the multi-sport club Fenerbahçe in Istanbul, founded in the Kadıköy district on the Asian side of the city by a group of young men in the early days of football in the Ottoman Empire, when the game was viewed with suspicion by the authorities. The name comes from the Fenerbahçe lighthouse cape, and its colors are yellow and navy blue. It plays at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium and has won many Turkish league titles. Its derby against Galatasaray is called the Intercontinental Derby, because the two clubs are on different continents, and it also has a long rivalry with Beşiktaş. Together the three form the big three of Turkish football.
