The Asian Football Confederation is the governing body of association football in Asia, one of the six continental confederations of FIFA. It was founded in Manila during the Asian Games, with a small number of member associations, and now has dozens of members across a vast area from Japan to the Middle East. Its headquarters are in Kuala Lumpur. The AFC organises the Asian Cup, first held in 1956, and the AFC Champions League for clubs, as well as qualifying competitions for the World Cup. Australia moved from the Oceania confederation to the AFC in 2006.
