The Netherlands national football team, known as Oranje after the color of the House of Orange-Nassau, represents the country in international football. The Royal Dutch Football Association was founded in 1889, and the team played its first international match against Belgium in Antwerp in 1905, winning 4–1. In the 1970s the team became famous for Total Football, with Johan Cruyff, Johan Neeskens and coach Rinus Michels, reaching the World Cup final in 1974, where it lost to West Germany. It lost finals again in 1978 against Argentina and in 2010 against Spain, never winning the World Cup. Its great triumph was the European Championship of 1988, won with a memorable volley by Marco van Basten in the final.
