Construction of Can Tho International Airport

1960

Can Tho International Airport serves Can Tho, the largest city of the Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam. It has its origins in an earlier airfield on the site, and a new civil terminal was built to handle commercial passengers. The airport connects the Mekong Delta with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other cities, and it is an important gateway for a region of intensive agriculture and river trade. The region is otherwise reached mostly by road and by boat on the many branches of the river.
