Layal Abboud was born on 15 May 1982 in Kniseh, Tyre. A Lebanese pop singer, Abboud became popular in the Arab world in the early 2010s with upbeat, danceable songs and music videos that drew large audiences online. She performs in Arabic and has appeared at concerts and festivals in Lebanon and elsewhere in the region, and on television programs. Her public image and her work as a singer made her a recognizable figure in Arabic pop of that decade.
