Wikimania is the annual conference of the Wikimedia movement, which brings together volunteers, staff and supporters of projects such as Wikipedia. The first Wikimania was held in Frankfurt, Germany, in 2005, only a few years after Wikipedia was launched, and drew a few hundred participants. Each year since then the conference has been hosted in a different city, among them Boston, Taipei, Alexandria, Singapore and London. The program includes talks, workshops and discussions on the future of free knowledge, technology and community governance. During the pandemic years it was held online.
