Release of Serbian Wikipedia

16 February 2003

The Serbian-language edition of Wikipedia is one of the many language editions of the free online encyclopedia run by the Wikimedia Foundation. It began in early 2003 and has grown to hundreds of thousands of articles written by volunteer editors. Serbian is a South Slavic language that is written in both the Cyrillic and Latin alphabets, and the edition can show the same text in either script, with software converting automatically between them. Its topics range from Serbian history and culture to science and general knowledge, and editors from Serbia and the Serbian communities abroad have contributed to it.
