Publication of The World Factbook

1962

The World Factbook is a reference work compiled by the United States Central Intelligence Agency that gives summary information on countries and territories across the world. Each entry covers topics such as geography, population, government, economy and military. It began as a restricted intelligence publication and was later made available to the public, and, because it is a work of the US government, its content is in the public domain, which has made it a widely copied source for schools, journalists and websites. It was published in print and later online, with the information updated periodically.
