FIBA Europe is the European zone of FIBA, the international basketball federation, and is responsible for organizing and developing the sport across the continent. It is headquartered in Munich, Germany, and is made up of the national basketball federations of dozens of European countries. FIBA Europe runs the EuroBasket championships for national teams, as well as club competitions, such as the Basketball Champions League, together with other tournaments for youth and women's teams. The first EuroBasket was played in 1935, long before the regional body was established. It also works with the governing body on the rules and development of the game, and on relations with the professional Euroleague, with which it has had a long and sometimes difficult rivalry.
