The Central Stadium in Yekaterinburg, a city in the Ural Mountains of Russia, is a football stadium that opened in the 1950s. It was the home of the club FC Ural and for decades a principal sports venue of the Urals region. For the 2018 FIFA World Cup, it was thoroughly renovated and enlarged, with the historic facade, with its columns, preserved while new temporary stands were added outside the original structure. This gave it an unusual appearance, with seating extending beyond the walls of the old building. It staged group-stage matches during the tournament, and the temporary stands were later removed.
