The Egypt men's national football team represents Egypt in international competition and is among the oldest and most successful sides in Africa. It played its first official match at the Olympic Games in Antwerp, becoming one of the first African teams to appear at a major tournament. In 1934 Egypt was the first African nation to play at the FIFA World Cup. The team won the first Africa Cup of Nations in 1957 and has won the continental title a record seven times, including a run of three in a row between 2006 and 2010. It reached the World Cup finals again in 1990 and in 2018, when the forward Mohamed Salah became its most celebrated modern player.
