Ijiraq is an irregular moon of Saturn, about twelve kilometers across, found in 2000 by a team led by Brett Gladman and J. J. Kavelaars. It orbits Saturn in the same direction as the planet's rotation and belongs to the Kiviuq group, a family of moons with similar orbits. It is named after the Ijiraq, a creature in Inuit mythology, which is said to kidnap children and make people lose their way. Like other irregular moons, it is thought to have been captured by Saturn long ago, and it may be a fragment of a larger body that broke up.
