Diego Maradona died on 25 November 2020 in Dique Luján, aged 60. An Argentine footballer and later coach, Maradona rose from a poor neighbourhood on the edge of Buenos Aires to become one of the most celebrated players in history. He starred for Boca Juniors, Barcelona and above all Napoli, whom he led to their first Italian league titles in the late 1980s. As captain he carried Argentina to the 1986 World Cup, scoring both the controversial Hand of God goal and a famous solo goal against England in the quarter-final. His career was marked by struggles with drugs and a doping suspension at the 1994 World Cup, and he later managed Argentina's national team. He remains an icon in Argentina and in Naples.
